Legal Aid Works

Legal Aid Works, formerly known as Rappahannock Legal Services, is a nonprofit corporation that provides free, high-quality, civil legal assistance to low income individuals and families. We have three offices located in Fredericksburg, Tappahannock, and Culpeper to better serve area residents. Our mission is to champion fairness by advocating for those with the least access to the civil court system. We represent low-income individuals facing civil legal issues, including family law and domestic violence victims, preventing evictions or foreclosures, and consumer and public benefits issues. Throughout our seventeen-county service region, we help our clients achieve justice. In 2018, we obtained hundreds of thousands of dollars for our clients in child and spousal support and unemployment compensation benefits they would not have been able to obtain without our help. We are funded by a wide range of local individuals, churches, banks, agencies, governments, and organizations. Help us champion fairness in our region.
